Gawler Books is bookshop in Willaston, Gawler. This little store, set in one of Gawler's beautiful old houses, is filled this both new and used books shelved in every room. Found at 7 Main North Road in Willaston, Gawler Books isn't open on Mondays but that doesn't matter; it's a small, individualistic business with a distinctive character.
What makes Gawler Books so unique is its disorganisation- well, to those know don't know it. If you need anything, don't hesitate to ask the owner who knows exactly what she has in stock and generally where it is and if it's not in stock, she'll happily try to source it for you. This lady isn't just someone who works in a shop either; she knows her literature and gets to know her customers. She stocks something for everyone.
With shelves and bookcases in every available space and books piled on the table tops and floors, it's like something out of Harry Potter. It's the kind of place where you can spend ages reading through potential buys and inevitably overspend if you're not careful (like me!).
Gawler Books is characterised by the owner's two Tenterfield Terriers who appear on the shop sign, gift vouchers and bookmarks and sleep under the front desk with the heater in winter. And when they're up to it, they come out to meet and greet the customers.
This little shop is crammed with wonderful finds and I could spend many hours there . The owner is a delight and full of knowledge and most helpful . She has read everything and is always able to discuss or suggest what would be a good read . Love the place !!
