After the sell-out success of
The Gatsby Winter Soirée , the ritzy night of hot jazz and chilled champagne heads back to Malvern Town Hall this August, as Astor Productions hosts a successive event;
The Gatsby Spring Soirée.
Hosted by the suave David Howell kitted out in his best vintage suit, and featuring the finest in Melbourne big band music, classic cars, jazz, a vintage fashion show, a best dressed competition and swing dancing performances, The Gatsby Spring Soirée proves once again, this is an extravaganza not to be missed!
Welcoming you into the soirée will be the New Orleans Pelican Brass Band, led by Barry Wratten who for 16 years resided in New Orleans leading jazz bands and playing alongside pioneers of New Orleans music. They'll have your toes tapping before you even set foot in the venue!
An exciting new project, Melbourne bandleader Michael McQuaid will be playing an eclectic mix of the sweetest 1920s pop songs and gut-bucket blues, also featuring period vocals from the charming Sandra Talty.
Keeping that dancefloor hot late into the night will be Andrew Nolte and His Orchestra. With a dedication to accuracy and musical brilliance being a primary focus, these boys make every attempt at breathing new life into what was some of the most exuberant and sophisticated music of the 20th Century. Each musician under the leadership of Mr Nolte is an exponent of jazz in their own right.
Experience the opulence and grandeur of Malvern Town Hall and welcome spring to Melbourne in style, with the hottest jazz this fine city has to offer.
Dress to impress, swanky and spiffy. Think The Great Gatsby and Boardwalk Empire. Remember, there's a best dressed competition!
