Gateways Festival of Workshops

G.A.T.E.WAYS is celebrating 25 years of inspiration and challenge this year.

G.A.T.E.WAYS is an independent, non-funded organisation, established in 1994 to provide opportunities for highly able and gifted children with special educational needs. Like-minded students can participate in programs that will challenge them intellectually and help develop their individual talents. Both short and longer term programs in most areas of the curriculum are offered in host schools in Melbourne, Canberra, Brisbane, the Gold Coast, Sydney, Singapore, Bangkok, as well as 'On Location'. Over the last 25 years G.A.T.E.WAYS has gained considerable recognition with teachers, parents and children in Australia for its high quality programs.

G.A.T.E.WAYS has been running festivals for many years as an exciting way to finish a school semester. G.A.T.E.WAYS offer a smorgasbord of workshops for your child to choose from in their mid-year festival extravaganza.

G.A.T.E.WAYS Festivals are special programs offering a large range of workshops running concurrently over two days, with the emphasis on challenge and fun. Students studying chemistry might make bath bombs or the easily broken glass from a Hollywood movie set; those for a passion for language might solve cryptic crosswords or participate in a feisty Slam Poetry competition; others might experience the passion of Latin American dance or uncover the mystery of magic tricks.
The Year 1 - 6 Festival will be hosted by Somerville House in South Brisbane on Wednesday and Thursday, June 26 and 27, from 9.30 - 3.15.

Over the course of the 2 days, approximately 200 children from all over Brisbane (and the Sunshine Coast and Gold Coast) usually attend the mid- year Festival, participating in a large range of workshops from art to law, mathematics, all areas of science, writing, literature, problem solving, technology, drama and MORE!!

This is a direct PARENT ENROLLED program. Teachers do not need to nominate children via their online school account. However, if the Festival is on a regular school day for your child, please notify your school and check that there are no clashes with important school events, as we are unable to issue refunds once the place is confirmed.
