There's more to Manjimup than meets the eye – and the South West town is now springing to life every Sunday from 7am to noon with the Gateway Hotel now offering a weekly market.

A variety of stallholders, fresh food and local crafts is on offer to deliver an eclectic mix of locally-made produce, fruit and veg, jewellery, clothing and collectables.

There is something about markets, no matter where they're located, that attracts people from all walks of life, and the is a chance for people to get out and about to explore what's on offer.

As markets organiser Georgina Tagliaferri says: "Whether you're looking for a unique gift or second-hand treasure, shopping for fresh fruit and vegetables or wanting to add new plants to the garden, markets are a great place to start.
"There's the great open-air format and a wonderful community vibe that harks back to an era where market squares were a communal meeting place. It's also a good way of getting to know the local growers and producers."

The are also way of boosting tourism in the area, according to Georgina.
"The markets form an adjunct to the Gateway Hotel's offerings and are another way of enhancing the different experiences available, whether you're a local, staying in town or passing through, which has the potential to flow-on to other businesses and the local economy."

It's a sentiment echoed by the Shire of Manjimup, which is undergoing a rejuvenation thanks to the State Government's Royalties for Regions SuperTowns project.
"The funding has provided the financial backing needed to make projects happen and has already positioned the town to attract investment, support local businesses, improve the liveability and increase tourism in the region," Shire President Wade DeCampo said.

Market stalls are available at $5 for each stall. The at the Gateway Hotel, Lot 1 Case Street (corner South Western Highway), Manjimup, every Sunday morning.
