Take a journey through the gardens of Southern France
'Gardens Full of Sun and Light in Southern France' - an illustrated talk
Friends of the Royal Botanic Gardens, Melbourne will be hosting a special lecture on the gardens of Southern France on Thursday 13th August at 6pm. The talk will take place at Mueller Hall, National Herbarium, Royal Botanic Gardens.
The illustrated talk will be conducted by Landscape Designer, author and Gardening Australia presenter, John Patrick. John has visited many of the world's great gardens, but he is particularly fond of the gardens of France with their Mediterranean climate, harsh soils and coastal exposure.
Enjoy viewing the beauty of gardens full of sun and light, gardens that inspired artists like Matisse and Picasso.
Take in the remarkable gardens of the French Riviera, gardens like Les Jardins de la Villa Ephrussi de Rothschild and Jardin Botanique in Nice, with its classic collection of Mediterranean flora, to the stunning gardens of the Pyrenees, like the Jardin de la Berbie at the foot of the Palais de la Berbie. The talk will feature the work of Pierre Berge, Tom Parr and Nicole de Vesian.
