I have been buying my soils from Green Life Soil Company for many years - in fact, ever since I came back to live in the city when I discovered their organic "Veggie Mix" in a local nursery.
I have visited them in their Midvale property and continue to buy their potting mixes and veggie mixes and have the healthiest plants and vegetables. They are now running a series of workshops and as I have only ever had good advice and experience from this firm, I would recommend these!

[b]INTEGRATED PEST MANAGEMENT**
This is a five-step approach to get rid of pests in the garden so that we do not have to resort to using chemicals and sprays.
This is a 2½ hour workshop where you will learn all about:
Why we get pests and what they are doing in your garden
Identifying and understanding pests and what they do
Monoculture versus polyculture – natural balance
Garden design and necessary crop rotation
Making plants resilient to reduce pest attack and this includes soil improvement
Three methods of control – physical, biological and spraying
Companion planting is a huge influence
Understanding and accepting that there will always be insect pests
You'll learn heaps at this talk, and receive easy to follow handouts, a chart for you to use at home and some flower seeds that will attract beneficial insects.
Afterwards, talk with the staff and join them for a cup of tea or coffee.

Permaculture garden design will benefit you and your environment by demonstrating how a practical and sustainable approach will give you a far better result.
Permaculture takes a whole systems approach to the garden design process and it is so much more than gardening.
This workshop will give you an understanding of:
How permaculture design differs from traditional landscape design
How this approach can save you time and money
Organic garden versus permaculture garden
How you can incorporate this design approach into your property stage by stage

All ingredients are supplied for this workshop, including jars/bottles to take home samples. You will need to bring along an apron to wear if you are worried about getting dirty.

This will be a hands-on opportunity to try a number of different techniques to propagate your own plants and learn the best way to get successful germination and improved strike rate of your cuttings. The following will be covered in this workshop:
Learn what time of the year to do propagation
The right way to sow seeds
Seed saving and storing
When to transplant, how to transplant and when to fertilise
Dormancy factors affecting germination
How to do various cutting techniques
Water propagation
Root division, growing from rhizomes and layering
