We all love buying fresh produce as we are supporting the local farmer and knowing we are not being over charged by the big retailer - so fresh produce markets are the way to go.
The latest market to start their Saturday morning trade is Gardeners Road Fresh Food Market, on the corner of Botany Road and Gardeners Road in Rosebery. Situated on the grounds of Gardeners Road Public School, these markets have it all.
Jumping castle for the kiddies, mobile coffee vans for the mums, freshly made bacon and egg roll for the dads and plenty of fresh produce.
The fruit and vegetable stall is my favourite. The old school fruiterer is handing out slivers of watermelon straight off the rind as his daughters serve at the register.
No Eftpos machine here. Old fashioned bills and coins payment for their well priced, extensive variety of fresh produce. The obligatory gozleme stall is ever present as is the fresh bread stall.
I didn't see the usual stalwart of markets; the fresh flowers and so forth but in time I am sure as the word gets around, this undiscovered gem in the burbs will be flowering with people, children, dogs and a very busy Saturday morning will start blooming. 8am - 2pm every Saturday morning.
