A hidden treasure in the Botanical Gardens
You may have walked past this hidden treasure a thousand times, without even knowing it was there.
It is a secret garden hidden within Melbourne's larger Royal Botanical Gardens.
Gardens House is a Georgian home cloaked from sight behind vine covered fences. From 1856 to 1991 it was home to various directors of the Royal Botanic Gardens; so I guess they knew how to grow things that ensured their privacy.
In 1993, it was sympathetically restored as a venue for special events such as garden parties, fine dining and cocktail parties.
But unless you were on the A-list, you probably missed out yet again.
But with this exclusive tour you finally have the opportunity to experience this secret garden and the attendant Garden House with its stunningly decorated rooms.
You can explore the garden within a garden which was designed by William Guilfoyle who designed the Botanic Gardens for which we are ever thankful. Then visit the Garden Room and Study or ogle the superbly decorated Dining Room.
