Enjoy the nature at its finest with these garden festivals
New South Wales is 'blooming' with wonderful and amazing garden and flower festivals.
There is a festival for all flora lovers. Whether you are a green thumb or just simply enjoy the enchantment of gardens, there is certainly a festival below just for you!
1. Goulburn's 22nd Annual Rose Festival
When: 14-15 March 2015: 14th: 11am-5pm & 15th: 10am-4pm Where: Goulburn Soldiers Club, 15 Market St, Goulburn Cost: Adult: $5 per person & Children under 16 free. Details: Featuring hundreds of roses with attractions ranging from Rose & Floral Art Competitions, art exhibition, display's and sale of roses, plants, gardening tools & crafts on sale.
2. Retford Park Open Garden When: 28- 29 March 2015: 10am-4pm Where: 1325 Old South Rd, Bowral
Cost: Tickets: $10pp – under 18's free. Details: This event features the beauty of the garden's magnificent trees, mature shrubberies and hedged garden rooms; all sustainably maintained using organic principles. Other features include the Cretaceous garden with 130 year old Bunya and an impressive collection of contemporary and classical sculpture. Tea and scones will be served at the event. Details: This is Australia's treasured gardening event, with an exciting line-up of stallholders with a diverse range of plants and flowers, inspiring speakers and activities. Click here for website.
4. The Annual Winter Orchid Festival
When: 4-5 July 2015: 4th: 11:30am-4pm & 5th: 8am-3pm
Where: Berry Showground Hall, Alexandra St, Berry
Details: There will be a large variety of orchids ranging from Cymbidiums, native orchids and some Slipper orchids. There will be plenty of different orchids for sale.
5. Berry Camilla & Floral Show
When: 1-2 August 2015: 1st: noon-4pm & 2nd: 10am-2pm
Where: The Berry School of Arts
Cost: Tickets: $5 per day
Details: The Berry Camellia & Floral Show is showcasing Camellias and winter blooms in the surrounds of a historic 19th century building in the rural country town of Berry. Tickets can be purchased from The Berry School of Arts. Click here for website.
6. Tulip Time
When: 15 – 27 September 2015:
Where: Corbett Gardens, Bendooley St, Bowral
Cost: Adults: $10pp, Concession: $6pp, Children 13-17 years: $6pp and free for locals and children under 12 years.
Details: Running for 55 years this event is one to attend! With over two weeks of floral displays the festival is for everyone of all ages, with tulips, market stalls, music, entertainment, street parade, street markets, children activities and plenty more for the whole family. 7. Leura Garden Festival
When: 3-11 October 2015: 9:30am-4:30pm
Where: Various locations across Leura, Blue Mountains
Cost: Single garden ticket: $5pp & combined ticket: $25pp – entitles you to visit all festival gardens.
Details: Situated in the breathtaking Blue Mountains the Leura Gardens Festival showcases big and small gardens with 11 garden displays and some of these garden displays took part in the original 1964 festival! For all information see website.
8. Berry Gardens Festival
When: 8- 11 October 2015: 10am-4pm
Where: Various locations, see website
Cost: Adults: $20pp for all eight gardens (can be used over the four days), $5pp for individual gardens & free for 18 years old.
Details: Eight beautiful gardens in and around Berry will be open for the public to enjoy and appreciate. The Berry Gardens Festivals will showcase eight garden displays; garden & plant items to purchase. Tickets can be purchased at Apex Park. See website for information.
Another garden festival to add....on every year 17th to 20th October at Griffith NSW. ABC's gardening Australia's Tony Cavello will be hosting and you can book the bus at the Visitor's Center and visit the 9 beautiful gardens on show.
