Is your tool shed, garage or spare room getting a little cramped for space with all those "we'd better keep them just in case" items. You know the ones – the bikes and toys the kids have outgrown, dad's favourite jumper that he never wears, and multiple household items and lay dormant year after year.
Well, here is your chance to join with the community in choosing to re-use and sign up for the Garage Sale Trail.
The Garage Sale Trail will see one big weekend of garage sales across Australia. Over the weekend of 19 and 20 October 2019, Australia will be saying goodbye to their pre-loved items and hello to finding and re-using others treasure.
To host a garage sale, register at www.garagesaletrail.com.au. The site has lots of helpful hints for being a seller and being a shopper, including the location of sales near you.
Garage Sale Trail was founded in Bondi Beach, by Andrew Valder and Darryl Nichols. Andrew and Darryl have calculated that In 2018, 146 councils across Australia were on-board and there were more than 15,000 garage sales over the weekend with over 400,000 Australians hitting the streets to browse over 2 million secondhand items. The average household made over $300, community groups raised an average of $650 and schools made $1500.
So, whether hosting or visiting, let's get on board, put second hand first and collaborate, re-use, recycle to follow the Garage Sale Trail. You'll never know where it might lead you.
