Garage Sale Trail is a community of over 250,000 Australians that is expected to set free more than 3 million items from cupboards, sheds and garages across the nation over the event's two weekends.
It makes it easier to sell no-longer-wanted goods, providing a large interested audience (around 2 million eyeballs!), promotional materials, and selling tools and tips, and makes it very likely that buyers will be able to snap up whatever they're wishing for within their budget while saving perfectly good goods from going to waste and ending up in landfill by giving them a new home and life.
Virtual Garage Sales Where In-Person Not Possible
In-person garage sales may not be possible in some areas and states, including Melbourne, so Garage Sale Trail has come up with another option for these areas and states so they can still get in on the second-hand selling and buying action - virtual garage sales!
Garage Sale Trail's virtual garage sales, at which you can sell and shop at online garage sales, will take place over two weekends, specifically the weekend of the 13th and 14th November and the weekend of the 20th and 21st of November.
The plan is for hundreds of people from all across Australia to host garage sales on the world wide web all at the same time on their social media platforms or on online marketplaces.
Sellers can choose the online social media channel they want to sell via - for example, Instagram, Facebook, TikTok or YouTube -
Sales can be a live broadcast, posted in a social media feed, or shared in stories. Buyers can purchase items via direct messages or by commenting 'sold' on the social media posts.
Another option is to link to an online marketplace or website such as eBay, Poshmark, Depop or the Aussie made Rosella Street, which plants a tree for every sale. The point of linking it to and joining in on this year's Garage Sale Trail is sellers should get more interested people as they can take advantage of the web traffic the Garage Sale Trail website gets over the two weekends.
