Held only twice a year, The Gap Twilight Farmers Markets are run by Wunderkid Market Managers, Roger and Suzie, in partnership with The Gap Residents Association 4061.

The Gap in Brisbane was initially inhabited by the Turrbal people and the area was nestled in a valley amongst four mountains Mount Coot-tha, Taylor Range, Mount Nebo and Mount Glorious. With the arrival of the European settlers, timber felling became the Gap's first industry as the area was heavily forested. After the timber was removed, the area was turned into farming.

The Gap Residents Association (GAPRA) was formed in November 2013 by a group of locals who believed a good community could become a great community by engaging with one another, enhancing the appeal of their suburbs, the value of their homes and ultimately the quality of their lives. The association is a not-for-profit-organisation and is funded by community contributions and sponsorship from local business. If you would like to join or know more about the Association, information can be located on their website.

The inaugural Gap Farmers Market was held in July 2014 and has continued each year since then. Proceeds from the market are donated to the local primary schools and used to start other GAPRA events. Some beneficiaries of these donations have seen money go to support teenage casual workers, Brisbane musicians (JJJ unearthed) and upgrades to better park facilities in the suburb.

The date for the next Gap Twilight Farmers Market is Sunday 26th June and which will incorporate over 100 stalls and businesses providing food, freshly grown local produce, gourmet foods like honey, cheeses, seafood, organic meat and local co-op. The markets are to be held on the oval at the Hilder Road State School during the twilight hours of 2.00pm to 7.00pm. Cost of entry is $3.00 for adults and children are free. Local parking in the suburb is also free.

Pony rides and an animal farm will be in attendance for the children and entertainment for all the family will be provided by Tang Pop Group, The Goldhearts, Americana Group, Betty Smokes and the Forgetaboudits and funky cool cats The Ravi Welsh Trio. Andrew Gibbs (projection art from g20 event) will be providing public projection art on the night.

If attendance exceeding 6,000 people at previous year's events is anything to go on, it would be advisable to get there early to secure a park close by and enjoy a meal before sitting back to listen to the music. The conclusion time of 7.00pm is still early enough to get little ones home and into bed at a reasonable hour.
