I like most women are a lover of chocolate, it gets you through those sad lonely nights, or is great when you've got the girls over for a girly night or even if your just feeling naughty. Well chocolate lovers, I've found a little piece of heaven in the streets of Melbourne.
Situated in two locations handy for public transport goers, like myself, Ganache Chocolate is a sophisticated little shop with a little touch of class. You'll find yourself wanting to purchase the entire store. There are cakes, chocolates of every imaginable flavour, chocolates in the shapes of animals, savoury mini rolls, smooth gelato, macarons, and of course decadent hot chocolates in many different flavours.
My personal favourite, is the "Ganache Panache", a platter that allows you to sample a bit of everything. On a typical platter, you will have a slice of patisserie cake - you are able to choose your own flavour but if you're going there for the first time, I'd suggest leaving it for the experts. You also get four chocolates, two macarons, and a scoop of gelato served in an edible chocolate cup. The platter is suited for two or even three if you're feeling generous or just have it all to yourself, there's no one stopping you.
There is also the chance to experience a delicious breakfast or a light lunch. You can choose from four different fillings in a petite gourmet roll for lunch, my personal favourite is the smoked salmon with cucumber, cream cheese and a twist of black pepper. Having one of these little rolls will allow you to still enjoy a piece of cake or some macaroons.
Their macarons are incredible, soft centred, crisp on the outside and beautiful smooth ganache inside each one. There are ten flavours to choose from including interesting lavender flavoured one.
When it comes to their hot chocolate drinks it is hard to find a more outstanding chocolate drink. Even compared to Lindt's version of a hot chocolate, I'd still say this one comes out on top.
Choose from eight flavours including White Chocolate, Winter Spice and Orange Cointreau. If you're not in the mood for a hot chocolate, don't let that put you off. There are still some other fantastic drinks including coffee and tea, milkshakes and frappes.
Finally if you're not content with just eating the chocolate, you do have the option to learn how to make these delicious treats including the macarons. They also have a Chocolate Club as well which is fantastic. I can hear you all now asking where this fabulous place is. Well as I said earlier there are two great locations. One in the CBD situated at 245 Collins Street, Melbourne and the other one is situated at 250 Toorak Road, South Yarra. For more information, click here.
