Late one Tuesday night after seeing a show and missing dinner, I stumbled upon Gami Chicken by accident trying to find something that was still open and serving food. However, I had no idea when I stumbled upon Gami, that it had some of the best chicken in Melbourne.
Gami began in 2006, when its founder, Rio Yoon, decided to take on perfecting the recipe for fried chicken and sauces and in turn share the favourite food of his country - Korea. His chicken was so good that customers began coming in droves and soon more stores were opened across the city.
It was easy to see why this place is still popular and busy at 10pm, when I tasted the delicious chicken. It was juicy yet not overly oily and the batter was light and crispy. Accompanying the chicken was some delicious sauces and a tasty spicy mayo coleslaw, which complemented the chicken perfectly.
However, not only do they specialise in delicious and juicy chicken but also a great list of bottled and tap beer on offer. This makes it the perfect destination for when cravings for fried chicken hit or simply a late night catch up with friends.
