Winter is coming, and in timely fashion Game of Rhones the Game of Thrones themed wine festival is set to make its noble return. The medieval wine tasting is set to take place in multiple locations across Australia and New Zealand as it celebrates its 5th year in 2017. The Game of Rhones festival is a celebration of the formidable grape varieties of the Rhone Valley region in France.

Guests will be able to feast with wine varieties such as Grenache, Shiraz and Mourvedre, just to name a few. The best wine producers in Australia and New Zealand will also join the party. That's not all. A great range of medieval food, beer and cider will also be available from local producers of the region, in what is sure to be a feast for the ages.

The whole concept is courtesy of Bottle Shop Concepts, an event-based company hellbent on creating fun and engaging events around their favourite drinks, most notably wine. Expect plenty of local and imported wine, charred meats, and heroic tales as the festival makes its way throughout the kingdoms of Auckland, Wellington, Perth, Melbourne, Brisbane and Sydney.

The Game of Rhones wine festival dates and locations are as follows:

Auckland - May 13th at St Matthews in the City

Wellington - May 20th at Chaffers Dock

Perth - June 3rd at B Shed Fremantle

Melbourne - June 10th at Meat Market

Brisbane - June 11th at Light Space

Sydney - June 18th at Carriageworks

To add to all the ferocious fun, the festival will double as a combative celebration. Guests will see country versus country, region versus region and producer versus producer. In short, the people of the court will be in charge of deciding the one wine to rule them all.

Ticket prices for the wine tasting event start at $60. Guests are also able to purchase a "Royal Pass" for $105. The VIP pass includes exclusive pre-event access from 12pm to 1pm, as well as a food voucher, complimentary glass of wine at the Rhone Bar and private time with a sommelier to curate their unique journey.
