A space to create, admire, interact and flourish
Art is everywhere we go and part of our everyday lives. From the things we wear, the music or sounds we enjoy, a beautiful sight or thought inspiring place, art evolves. The spaces dedicated to it, must also grow and develop, in order to keep artists inspired and the public interested.
The Mitcham Village Arts and Crafts, now operating as Gallery One has recently seen some minor internal renovations, transforming it into a friendly and innovative space for artists and art lovers alike.
Gallery One is an outlet for artists, holding regular group or solo exhibitions and auctions, facilitating emerging artists with a space and guidance from experienced artists and curators.
For those still developing their skills, technique and style, Gallery One offers a variety of classes and workshops, including portrait drawing, oil and watercolour painting, crochet, quilting and kids art.
Selected art pieces and crafts are then displayed in their beautiful stone atrium hall and main studio. Some of these can be purchased by the public or sold at auctions and other events.
This helps established artists and emerging ones get public exposure, show their talent and style and create new contacts in the art industry.

So if you enjoy the arts and crafts world, either making or admiring, there are all sorts of ways in which you can support its people and spaces. Keep an eye on Gallery One events and exhibitions, enrol into one of their classes, become a member and enjoy the perks or become one of their enthusiastic volunteers and assist in the running of the gallery and make new friends.
