This energetic five-piece band will rock your socks off
I would describe Galapogos as playing in the genre of rocktronica and they remind me of my favourite (now defunct) band from when I lived in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada, The Jimmy Swift Band. Galapogos are Brisbane-based and give their heart and soul to their live performances.
Rocktonica has been defined online as incorporating rock elements with electronic rhythms which are more upbeat than standard electro rock; songs are generally created in a pop music song structure and usually quite melodic with emotive vocals and thoughtful lyrical content. This is exactly what you'll get when you come along to a Galapogos set.
I've been to quite a few Galapogos gigs and every time I've had an rocking good time. Tthe music finds its way under my skin and urges me to dance, and the lyrics invite me to sing along. With longer than usual tracks, the gents jam along, with swells and dips in the music, taking you on a rock and electronic journey.
Galapogos released their debut album "Established Ghosts" in 2011, and have spent 2012 being very busy, generating multiple EPs. All their recordings are available on bandcamp and you can like them on Facebook here. I recommend checking out their music and getting along to one of their gigs soon.
