Aussies and Beer? A Match Made in Hop Heaven.

If there’s one thing we Australians can’t argue about (well, besides whether a snag belongs on onions or not), it’s our undying devotion to the amber nectar. We’ll take it in a can, icy cold in a schooner, or even with a certain PM’s mug plastered on the label - no judgement here.

But if there’s one event that’s basically our Super Bowl of suds, it’s GABS Festival 2025 - the holy grail for beer nerds and casual sippers alike. GABS is back for a whirlwind three-city tour in April and May 2025, tickets on sale now. This year, they’re not just bringing the goods; they’re building the longest bar in Australia, a whopping 30 metres of liquid gold, pouring over 100 exclusive brews you won’t find anywhere else. Now that’s what we call a solid effort.

And for the German beer tragics? Weihenstephan —the OG of breweries, literally. These legends have been slinging award-winning brews since 1021 (yeah, that’s not a typo) and they’re back to bless our tastebuds again.

But the real dark horse? Schlenkerla. With only two breweries left in the world still doing their thing, this smoky, malty marvel is setting up shop at all three festivals. Consider this your sign to hunt ‘em down before the keg kicks.

So grab your mates, stretch that liver, and get ready—because GABS is about to school us all in the fine art of beer worship. Cheers to that.

Brisket Beer “Brisket Burnt Ends Rauchbier" by Moffat Beach Brewing Co. Malt was smoked in their own smoker alongside the brisket they serve at their brewery. Rich hickory smoke, caramalised malt and a hint of BBQ (Sunshine Coast)
