This winter, ditch the woolly socks and head on over to Hot Yoga.

Trust me, you will thank yourself that you did.

at Kangaroo Point (40 Wharf Street) is a terrific place to start. Michelle and her team are amazing. I am really pleased I found them.

It's a great friendly atmosphere and as a beginner you can get a ten day (unlimited) pass for $30.

I have done a bit of yoga in the past but the classes have people with all levels of ability and the teachers are terrific. Be prepared to sweat, but personally I found it pure bliss.

What to bring
A yoga mat (or you can hire one for $3)
Towel
Water

I recommend Coconut Water afterwards - you need to fill up with water or coconut water to rehydrate.

Why Hot Yoga?

"At , natural healing heat and traditional and contemporary styles of yoga are fused together to provide a therapeutic yoga practice that will empower all ages and levels of health, fitness and athleticism."

I find that hot yoga is a much more intense and satisfying form of yoga. I didn't think I would like the sweaty hotness, but it actually makes you more flexible, calmer and more focused.

They keep the room at 30 degrees, which is mean to be "for optimal therapeutic benefits which purify body and mind."

It is done in a large open room, with concrete flooring, so sweat can be easily mopped up.

There are plenty of other places you could try, but I really liked the vibe of this one, and try my best to go once a week. .

So, grab your drink bottle, find some comfortable clothes, dust off the yoga mat and head on over the Kangaroo Point.
