After Isolation Iíve been battling to write my name
Sometimes it's the little things that keep you sane. For instance, during self-isolation when the house had been decluttered and finally sparkled for the first time in years, I stumbled across a fun little competition that was good for keeping the brain matter exercised.
The Australian Writers' Centre runs a monthly competition over the first weekend of every month. Yes, that's right: it opens this Friday, the 3rd of July at 5pm EST, so listen carefully.....
The AWC invites participates to join in the Furious Fiction fun on the first weekend of every month where you can stretch both your imagination and short storytelling skills.
The contest starts at 5pm on Friday, participants have 55 hours to submit their story using 500 words or less, and the winner takes all $500.
There is no entry fee though you do need to use all the prompts that are provided at the time. These are different each month: sometimes prompts include a colour, a phrase, or an activity to include in your story. You won't know until 5pm this Friday what this month's prompts will be. Entries are submitted online which makes it even easier.
Does this sound like a challenge you need, as ScoMo would say, to " climb out from under the doona"?
