Perfectly situated in the heart of Subiaco on Rokeby Road, Funtastico is a nicely sized Mediterranean restaurant offering indulgent lunches to business folk and delicious dinners to those seeking a nice bistro type atmosphere.

Conveniently located on Rokeby Road, Subiaco

The front of the restaurant has French doors that open out onto the busy road in the summer, and in the winter continue to provide a vantage point for people watching. The main part of the restaurant provides a viewing platform into the open kitchen, which is a lovely aspect of dining.

The menu features an array of Mediterranean and Australian fusion offerings, with particular attention paid to their fresh pasta and pizza components. There are some great fresh ingredients used in the recipes here, and I love the flavour combinations offered in that they keep to some traditional European menu items but each with their own Funtastico stamp on it.

On my most recent visit we bypassed the entree menu knowing the size of the main menu items that awaited us. I opted for their fillet steak ($45), my partner went for their fresh ravilolli Fagotinni ($33) and we ordered a small portion of the fresh spinach and Riccotta ravioli for my 16 month old.

There is no kids menu here but they are happy to make their pasta to your order and this has always worked out well for us. All of our meals were perfectly cooked and seasoned, with my fillet steak being a real highlight. Cooked to a perfect medium and swimming in a rich red wine jus, this was a gorgeous treat; my partner definitely had meal envy upon tasting this one.

The pasta we'd ordered was lovely and fresh, not too thick and tasted very summery with lots of fresh herbs in evidence. For all of our meals and a couple of glasses of wine, the bill came to $120. Not the cheapest place to eat, but certainly relative to other similar calibre restaurants in Subi namely the Subiaco Hotel or Riato's.

Ideal for a first date, family dinner or as a friends get together. If you're fancying something special, order the fillet steak, you wont be disappointed.
