While budgets might be tight, there's still loads to see and do for next to nothing - less that a cup of coffee in fact. For $2.50 per person, a Family Funday Sunday ticket will have you tripping on trains, bouncing along on busses and floating along on a ferry before you can say, 'Don't forget the camera'.

It's an absolute bargain and kiddies under 4 travel free. It includes public and private bus travel in metro and outer metro Sydney, including Newcastle and Wollongong, the train network, and the Sydney and Newcastle ferries. See this zone map for the specific areas and services covered.

There are a few easy-to-meet conditions: your group needs to be related (though I doubt they're about to take a DNA test) and must include at least one adult and one child. No kids? Great excuse to spend some quality time with your nieces and nephews!

So, what takes your fancy? Maybe a ferry ride from Circular Quay to Parramatta via Cockatoo Island for a bit of a poke around the old prison and a Ships Ahoy Treasure Hunt.

Or maybe a long, leisurely day trip to the beautiful Blue Mountains, with an obligatory stop at the Leura Candy Store for little and big kids alike.

The possibilities are almost endless.

Family Funday Sunday tickets are available from all over the place: bus drivers on the day, CityRail stations, ferry ticket offices, authorised newsagents, 7-Elevens and convenience stores.
