5 Fun and Unusual First Dates on the Gold Coast

Whether it is your first date, a Dad and daughter date or a much-needed child-free date, the Gold Coast is a mine of hidden treasures waiting to be explored by those looking for something amazing to share with their loved (or yet to be loved) one!

1) Bounce, Robina



For those who have never been trampolining on a first date, Bounce Robina provides a fantastic opportunity for you to show your date that you can trampoline like it's 1999. With rooms full of trampoline floors and walls, and a cafe above the trampolining area, stocked with all kinds of sugary delights, Bounce gives new friends the opportunity to get all sugared-up and jump your way through awkward small-talk.

Recommended for

- when you are meeting your partner's children for the first time
- showing off how fit and limber you are
- those who aren't great at small talk but excel at gymnastic-type abilities

2) Lions Carousel, Broadbeach

Located in the Broadbeach Mall, the Lions Carousel rivals the iconic full-sized carousels as seen in the streets of Italy. At only $2 per person, you can take your date for a ride on a carousel horse in the middle of the Broadbeach Mall, which is often frequented by professional buskers, and has the added advantage of being surrounded by bars and restaurants (and is just meters from the spectacular beach front), providing opportunities for romance on multiple fronts!



Recommended for

- Spontaneous low-cost dates that happen just before pay day. If you are really struggling with money, the $4 per couple price, coupled with the bonus of 50c ice creams at McDonald's next door, might save you from a night home in front of the television with 2 minute noodles :-)

- dates with your little ones. No three year old can resist a carousel!

3) Kayaking on the Canals



Kayaking on the canals in the Gold Coast is one of the cheapest and most fun activities around! There are many places where you can hire kayaks, from Southport to Tullebudgera Creek, and with Gold Coast being famous for our incredible canals, you can spend a whole day lounging on the water.

Recommended for
- First dates and dates with people fit enough to paddle around for a few hours

Cautions:
- resist the urge to jump off the kayak for a swim. Gold Coast canals are known to be breeding grounds for sharks, so if you are worried about sharks, stick close to shore, and to canals where it is easy to exit the water quickly if needed

4) Seaworld

An unlikely contender for a first date location, Seaworld in non-peak times can be one of the most relaxing locations on the Gold Coast. Set up right on the water, the gorgeous Gold Coast shore line can be seen from many of the rides (including the rope course, at the back of Seaworld) and romantic activities abound - including the opportunity to take a quick helicopter ride over the ocean, and to spend some quality time walking around enjoying the party atmosphere that only a theme park can provide!





5) Paradise Parklands, Nerang



Paradise Parklands in Nerang is a community run space that is home to gorgeous wide open spaces, a stable for rehabilitated horses, and an incredible community garden. Perfect for that laid-back-and-relaxed romancing type, Paradise Parklands provides an opportunity for some one-on-one relaxation time, strolling around to have a chat with some of the wildlife (besides horses, there are sheep, goats, chickens and other random animals running wild) or pitching a picnic in one of the spacious grassy areas

Recommended for
- low key romantic first dates
- dates where you want to serenade your partner with a guitar and would prefer that nobody else hear your singing
