It can be hard to get kids out of the house and participating in safe (and fun) activities. To help you out a bit, I've collected a few exciting (and free) things for your kids to do this September.

For little ones**[/SECTION]

1. Every Wednesday from 10.30-11am, the State Library will be running a 'baby bounce' session, featuring stories, songs and rhymes. For children up to 2 years old.

2. Chisholm TAFE (Frankston) is running a free day of open-ended play for children aged up to 6 years old on Wednesday, 11th of September, from 10am-2pm.

3. Southbank Library is presenting Dinosaur Tails , in association with Carp Productions, on Wednesday, the 25th of September at 10.30am. Join Sam and Tim the T-rex, as they act out stories, perform prehistoric poetry, and try out the Triassic Twist. For ages 3-10.

[SECTION]For bigger kids[/SECTION]


1. headspace Elsternwick is running their first ever art competition . Entry is free, and open to kids between 12 and 25. There are heaps of great prizes to win, including Hoyts movie vouchers, Grill'd vouchers, and more.

2. Create your own party pinata at the Hampton Park Youth Information Centre. There are three sessions in September, each going from 3.30-5pm: Thursday 5th, Thursday 12th, and Thursday 19th. Ages 10-15 welcome.

3. Maroondah Youth Services are holding a free movie screening of Pitch Perfect for young people aged between 12 and 25 - also including free popcorn and drinks. Doors open at 6pm, on Friday, 13th of September, at Arrabri Community House, Bayswater North.

4. Dingley Library is holding a Fun Fit Hip Hop class on Tuesday, 24th of September. There will be two sessions: one for ages 5-10 at 3pm, and another for ages 11-16 at 4pm. Bookings are essential.

5. Cardinia Youth Services are holding a badge and jewellery-making activity for teenagers on Wednesday, 25th of September, 1.30-3.30pm. Bookings are essential.

6. Check out the beautiful Studio Ghibli film From Up on Poppy Hill at the State Library's Outside-in Cinema on Wednesday, 25th of September, at 6.30pm. Bookings are essential.

7. Teenagers are invited to a make-up workshop at the Cranbourne Youth Information Centre, on Friday, 27th of September, from 2.30-4.30pm. Snacks and refreshment provided.
