How to Entertain the Kids and Spend Quality Time
How many times have you asked yourself what to do this weekend with the kids? Not only do you want to find something to keep them busy and entertained, but you are also looking for activities that will allow your family to spend quality time together and create unforgettable memories. As you have heard it probably many times, watching TV is not the best choice of family activity. How about turning off the TV and the computer, putting the smartphone aside and spend some time together? Here is a list of easy and fun family activities that you can try this weekend:

Build Houses out of Cardboard Boxes

Does your daughter want a house for her Barbie doll, but you think it's way too expensive? How about building one together out of cardboard boxes. You boy might enjoy the time to build up his own cardboard car… Take the time to design each element, paint them and have fun! This should keep your kids entertained for a few hours.

Go on a Neighborhood Color Walk

Did you think that sightseeing is reserved to holiday times? How about taking your kids in neighborhood color walk? Pick a color or, even better, let your kids take turns in picking it, and embark on a fun adventure identifying objects of that specific color.

Did you think that coloring is old fashioned? Indeed, the coloring books are not so popular nowadays, but if you want to find something connected to your kids' interest centers, try the internet! On websites like or you can find modern coloring pages. Just push the download button, print it, bring a pack of coloring pencils and give it a try. If they enjoy it, the internet is an infinite source.

Bake and Decorate a Cake

Do your kids have a sweet tooth? Which kids don't? How about turning this passion for sweets into a fun activity? Teach them how to bake a simple cake and let them decorate it themselves. Don't worry about the outcome, just be prepared to clean the kitchen afterwards.

Host a Birthday Party

All the kids love being the birthday boy or girl, but it only happens once a year. How about having another birthday this weekend? Yes, it includes a birthday party, but one that you and your kids only will organize. Teach your children how to make decorations and tell them they will have to invite all their stuffy toys to the party.

Play Scrabble or Monopoly

Worried that your kids spend too much time on the computer, in front of the TV or on the play station? How about introducing board games for a change? They are very educational, allowing the little ones to develop some important skills like teamwork, problem solving and decision making.

Organise at Family Movie Night

Why do you have to go to the cinema to watch a movie, when you can have a family movie night at home? Rent a DVD your kids will like, make some popcorn, and have fun! You will enjoy this activity so much that you might turn into a family routine.

Play Charades

A game that has entertained generations, charades are fun and educational. Kids will certainly laugh at you trying to make various gestures and mimic the title of a movie.
