On Rundle street, just off East Terrace, lies a cocktail lounge with a difference. This dimly lit, underground establishment has been serving up fancy drinks with even fancier names since 2000. Fumo Blu (which transletes to 'Blue Smoke') is generally recognised as one of Adelaide's premier cocktail lounges with its great selection and seriously cool atmosphere.

There's a real 50s feel to the place as you walk down the stairs and enter the haze. Retro-style art hangs upon the walls, and the stools and booths seem straight out of some diner from Happy Days. Don't let this fool you though, Fumo Blu oozes contemporary style and the music is not likely to give you an urge to do the waltz with your grandmother.

As you would expect, there is a wide range of cocktails at reasonable prices. There are old favourites like the exotic mojito, the creamy toblerone, and the potent long island iced tea. There are a host of other fruity and delicious cocktails on their menu which are sure to make your vision blurry.

Probably the most impressive thing about Fumo Blu is its 1 x 2 metre aquarium, which boasts some spectacular tropical fish swimming amongst mounds of colourful coral. Watch your aquatic friends swim lazily by as you sip on a quality cocktail in the safety of a comfy booth. How many bars can boast that?

While cocktails are the mail selling point, Fumo Blu also provides a great selection of beer, wine, spirits, and liqueurs, as well as cheese platters and toasted sandwiches if you're feeling a little peckish. For a laid back night of visual delights and fancy-named beverages, put Fumo Blu on your list this weekend.

I love this place, it's such an exclusive little hole in the wall! I can remember having my 19th birthday party here a few years ago. I love the smooth music they play, not to mention the cocktails! My favourite is the toblerone, it's like dessert in a glass. The long island iced teas can be pretty dangerous though, but oh so good!
