Breakfast overlooking the bay
Looking for a place for breakfast with a view? Great coffee and an alfresco atmosphere? Somewhere to sit back and relax? We were on the hunt for a different place for breakfast and found 'a local' in the form of The Full Moon Hotel.
It's operating as a local pub/hotel for the last 150 years. No doubt it has had a few facelifts and makeovers in that time, but it still looks quite impressive. The Full Moon Hotel has a prestigious location on the top of the cliffs in Sandgate, overlooking Bramble Bay. A breezy 25 minutes drive north of the Brisbane CBD.
The Full Moon Hotel hosts a wide variety of 'pub' activities along with delicious dining at the restaurant or bar. Every day of the week has something different for everyone to enjoy.
Monday nights - "kids eat free" Tuesday is Reef and Beef night Wednesday - Schnitz day Thursday is when you can test your knowledge with Trivia night Friday and Saturday nights they have live music Sunday they offer breakfast from 8am to 10.30 and live music in the afternoon.
Sunday is when we decided to visit the Full Moon Hotel. Parking is easy, as they have parking at the hotel or street parking.
Bookings aren't needed for breakfast but recommended for weekend evening dining or parties over 8.
The Full Moon Hotel has plenty of seating with indoor and outdoor areas. Being such a beautiful barmy Autumn day, we chose the outdoor area, so we could enjoy the sea views.
We didn't have to wait very long for our meals to come. Service was friendly and quick.
My husband had chosen the bacon and egg open "Benny Burger" with fresh spinach, chilli onions and housemade hollandaise sauce ($12). His only comment was that the board it was served on was too small for the big burger. Otherwise, he enjoyed it.
My son opted for something sweet today and ordered the Blueberry pancakes with fresh strawberries, lemon syrup and ricotta ($13). The plate was clean by the end, so I assume it also was good. He stated that he was eating something healthy due to the fresh fruit in the pancakes.
My breakfast choice was a little different. I chose the Roast sweet potato with garlic kale with chilli onions, poached eggs and toasted almonds ($15). I must say it was a good dish with loads of taste and goodness. A good choice for those with certain dietary requirements.
