Did you know that sharing a meal can have physical and mental health benefits? And it's not just about what you are eating, it is because food (and drink) connects people. For me, personally (as a self-appointed kitchen witch), food and creating meals is a passion for flavours and textures as well as eating.

One of the rare beauties of lockdown is that we have a bit more time on our hands when it comes to being in the kitchen. For me, cooking soothes the stress of the day because I am focusing on either following a recipe or simply on the ingredients before me. This leaves little room for negative thoughts.

This leads on to my other joy, sourcing the wonderful ingredients that I mess about with. I think wistfully of the days when I could head out of town to get my fresh produce, either from farm gates or tiny farmers markets. I would drive back with a generous lot consisting of vegan cheeses, plump potatoes, bottles of olive oil, ripe strawberries and fresh bread. Travelling from farm gate to farm gate will have to wait for another day but in the meantime, there are other ways to purchase farm-fresh fruit and veggies from the comfort of your own home, besides your trusty supermarkets.

I recently decided to try out Fruitastic, a Mornington Peninsula family-owned fruit and vegetables online delivery service that services Melbourne and beyond. The team working here, get up bright and early to deal with local farmers and growers so as to prepare the ordered boxes for delivery. This intrigued me as this means that I could still shop local without risking the hefty 5km travel find imposed on Melburnians.

Opening the box from Fruitastic seemed like an early Christmas present, with such a delightful rainbow of colours, freshness as promised and with everything ordered packed neatly into a recyclable box.

Fruitastic are not only a fruit and veggie online retailer but offer a cornucopia of items, ranging from bakery goods, milk and dairy, pantry goods (olive oil, flour etc), deli items and fresh pasta. You really should take a good while browsing through all of the sections, which is what I will be doing when I make my next purchase with them.

Fruitastic has all the fresh goodies for you, why not take a look today or let me know what other veggie box wonders you have found.
