Carnarvon's Fruit Loop Drive Trail is worth checking out when you're in town. It features a number of local produce stores and working plantations. When in season, you'll be able to buy fresh fruits such as bananas, mangoes, grapes and watermelons from their roadside stalls or shopfronts. Preserves, dried fruits and ice creams are also available.

We spent some time at Morel's Orchard enjoying the delicious fig ice cream which was made from no other ingredients except figs. The starfruit reminded me of my childhood and we just had to grab a pack of that too. This particular orchard is known for growing exotic fruits.

Besides fruits, the trail is also famous for its cactus farm. Yes, you read it right, a cactus farm in the middle of all that horticulture! You've got to see it to believe it. The farm started as a hobby many years ago but has now grown to become a local tourist attraction. It definitely deserves a photo or two.

The trail follows North and South River Roads along the banks of the Gascoyne River. A map can be downloaded from here .
