Get Fringed Australia Day at Fringe World.
You won't believe what Fringe World has ahead for this summer. Fringe World is back again and alive for 25 days of events, performances and fun things to do in a world that allows you to choose your Fringe fantasy. From Australia Day, 26th January until 19th February, immerse yourself in music, cabaret, circus, comedy, community action, dance, theatre, performance and visual arts. There are over 150 Fringe shows running from more than 30 venues across Perth city. There is Fringe fun for the whole family too. Over 800 local, national and international Fringe performers offer us a diverse variety of entertainment choices during the Fringe World Festival for 2012.
Fringe World opens on Australia Day and invites all to celebrate during the Skyshow. Join in on the free entertainment after the fireworks at The Treasury and/or The Cultural Centre.
On the Saturday afternoon in the Perth Cultural Centre, there is a showcase of very hot custom vintage cars, a gathering of push-bike enthusiasts, an Arctic Mini-Festival alongside other events happening in the surrounding venues, brought to you by the Cranksters Rod and Kustom Club. Then Fringe it up for the big free concert at night featuring some favourites from across the Fringe and some special visitors.
There's also the Night Markets happening along Perth's longest laneway stretch from the Cultural Centre up behind William Street on both Saturday and Sunday, brought to you by the William Street Collective and Fringe World.
This Fringe you have two nightly drop-in hub options.
The Treasure Chest Stage (Treasure Island) For the first time in over 15 years, the Old Treasury Buildings on St Georges Terrace will open its doors to the public and become a key performance hub for the 2012 Fringe World Festival, hosting over 50 shows across the festival. This is a free Fringe outdoor performance area built into a hidden vacant lot in the heart of the city, where you can access nine different performance spaces in the neighbouring Perth Town Hall and The Treasury to see consecutive shows each night of the festival.
Urban Orchard Stage (Wonderland) Free entertainments under the stars in the beautiful surrounds of the Urban Orchard. Last year I couldn't get enough of the festive atmosphere at Fringe World. There was music on the stage, a bar, dancers in a cage and inspiring characters from another time at this relaxed and lit up summer night scene.
Get Fringed inside their very own Spiegeltent that feels out of this world and era. Quite a few ticketed performances will be entertaining audiences inside. Drop in at the Urban Orchard at the end of the day with your friends for a bite to eat and a beverage and allow the adventure to unfold spontaneously.

The Freak and the Showgirl present Apocastrip WOW!!.
After last year's Fringe World event, I could not stop telling everyone about this amazingly funny and clever show. People wanted to see it and now they finally have that chance. I just couldn't look away, even though in most parts of the show it would have been more appropriate to do so. Using their unique parts to make a point and make us laugh, Julie Atlas Muz (USA) and Mat Fraser (UK) with their cabaret sideshow striptease spectacular, and new Apocastrip WOW!! Flippers, strippers, songs, comedy, magic, freakshow, burlesque, double acts and the legendary audience challenge - it's political incorrectness gone mad.
