Get Fringed Australia Day at Fringe World.

You won't believe what Fringe World has ahead for this summer. Fringe World is back again and alive for 25 days of events, performances and fun things to do in a world that allows you to choose your Fringe fantasy. From Australia Day, 26th January until 19th February, immerse yourself in music, cabaret, circus, comedy, community action, dance, theatre, performance and visual arts. There are over 150 Fringe shows running from more than 30 venues across Perth city. There is Fringe fun for the whole family too. Over 800 local, national and international Fringe performers offer us a diverse variety of entertainment choices during the Fringe World Festival for 2012.

4 Day Weekend Opening Events
Fringe World opens on Australia Day and invites all to celebrate during the Skyshow. Join in on the free entertainment after the fireworks at The Treasury and/or The Cultural Centre.

On the Saturday afternoon in the Perth Cultural Centre, there is a showcase of very hot custom vintage cars, a gathering of push-bike enthusiasts, an Arctic Mini-Festival alongside other events happening in the surrounding venues, brought to you by the Cranksters Rod and Kustom Club. Then Fringe it up for the big free concert at night featuring some favourites from across the Fringe and some special visitors.

There's also the Night Markets happening along Perth's longest laneway stretch from the Cultural Centre up behind William Street on both Saturday and Sunday, brought to you by the William Street Collective and Fringe World.

This Fringe you have two nightly drop-in hub options.

The Treasure Chest Stage (Treasure Island)
For the first time in over 15 years, the Old Treasury Buildings on St Georges Terrace will open its doors to the public and become a key performance hub for the 2012 Fringe World Festival, hosting over 50 shows across the festival. This is a free Fringe outdoor performance area built into a hidden vacant lot in the heart of the city, where you can access nine different performance spaces in the neighbouring Perth Town Hall and The Treasury to see consecutive shows each night of the festival.

Urban Orchard Stage (Wonderland)
Free entertainments under the stars in the beautiful surrounds of the Urban Orchard. Last year I couldn't get enough of the festive atmosphere at Fringe World. There was music on the stage, a bar, dancers in a cage and inspiring characters from another time at this relaxed and lit up summer night scene.

Get Fringed inside their very own Spiegeltent that feels out of this world and era. Quite a few ticketed performances will be entertaining audiences inside. Drop in at the Urban Orchard at the end of the day with your friends for a bite to eat and a beverage and allow the adventure to unfold spontaneously.

Other major hubs to Fringe binge are:

Perth Cultural Centre Screen
The Perth Cultural Centre Screen for the late night audiences leaving and / or going to shows around the Cultural Centre. See website for the full program.

De Parel Spiegeltent
You may remember an interesting looking tent from another world earlier in 2011 situated in the Urban Orchard outside the Art Gallery. In 2012 Fringe World is bigger, better, and brighter and this year she's bringing some friends. This is the heart of much of the '4 Day Weekend' opening events and the starting point for your Fringe adventures. Enjoy the free Aussie Day event at the Spiegeltent from 5pm.

City of Perth Free Funnies at Northbridge Piazza Screen
Every Thursday-Sunday night of the Fringe World Festival, you can experience world-class free comedy programming at the Northbridge Piazza. The 6pm slots are designed to be funny for the full family, so it's a great time to bring the kids in for a laugh and a bite to eat. This will be opening with Comedy Central Concert on Friday 27th January, the Friday night following Australia Day.

Now there is way too much to tell you about Fringe's feast of festivities offered for 2012, but here's a few that may Fringe an interest.

"Splat!" Fringe Kids Cabaret
Take one part kids game show; mix with circus antics, a dash of live music and a handful of chaos and knockabout. Three contestants battle it out on stage as the game show comes to life around them. Featuring international returnees Gail Force, Adam O'Connor, MC Magnus 'Danger' Magnus and the musical delights of Michelle Smith.

3's Company, 2's A Party
This is brilliant theatre with a dose of dance, a sprinkle trash and a dash of comedy. See very talented physical comedians and dancers." Dave Callan, Comedian and presenter for Triple J.

Ali McGregor's Jazz Cigarette
Cabaret star and errant opera singer Ali McGregor presents classic jazz ballads and sassy blues ranging from Gershwin's 'The Man I Love', to unique interpretations of Eurythmic's 'Sweet Dreams' and Britney's 'Oops I did it Again'.

All's Well That Ends Well
Animation, puppetry and verse make up the bizarre love story of a spoilt brat, a hopeless romantic, a gold-digging teapot, and two unfortunate hobby-horses.

Bunga Bunga Burlesqueconi
For over 30 years they've been giving pleasure at Silvio Berlusconi's Bunga Bunga Club. The true flavour of Italian burlesque comes to life, defying gravity and flying high.

Le Petit Cabaret
Enter the world of Le Petit Cabaret where Perth's tiny-tots and freaks-of-nature perform aerial contortions, yoga on rope, hand balancing on canes.

Mardi Gras Tease
Sugar Blue Burlesque's latest production takes you into the heart of the south to celebrate the music, culture and history of New Orleans, Burlesque style. From the bright lights of Bourbon Street to dark voodoo from deep in Bayou, the talented and sexy performers of Sugar Blue will take you on a toe tapping
hurly burly celebration of life, death and everything in between.

The Burlesque Garden
Be seduced late at night as 'Lady Velvet Cabaret' takes you through the Burlesque Garden of Eden to meet breathtaking mythical creatures that will delight you with circus arts, sensual burlesque, sweet songbirds, classical violinists, gorgeous dancers and classy comedy.

The Freak and the Showgirl present Apocastrip WOW!!.
After last year's Fringe World event, I could not stop telling everyone about this amazingly funny and clever show. People wanted to see it and now they finally have that chance. I just couldn't look away, even though in most parts of the show it would have been more appropriate to do so. Using their unique parts to make a point and make us laugh, Julie Atlas Muz (USA) and Mat Fraser (UK) with their cabaret sideshow striptease spectacular, and new Apocastrip WOW!! Flippers, strippers, songs, comedy, magic, freakshow, burlesque, double acts and the legendary audience challenge - it's political incorrectness gone mad.

Lucha Royale
Lucha Royale is an action-packed show, with Luchadores (Mexican-style Masked wrestlers) fighting, flipping and flying, performing breathtaking acrobatic feats while battling each other. Mix this with a pinata explosion of sensual Burlesque, crazy Circus acts, flamboyant Drag and more - this Lucha Royale is
set to blow your minds away.

Australia Day at The Bakery
This Australia Day Good Company brings you a line up of Australian music summer drinks and free BBQ.

Spiegeltent Late Night Variety Hour
Stay out late as cabaret, music, circus, dance and comedy collide on stage with a surprise line-up of Fringe World favourites.
