Ever since I was a kid I have enjoyed going "down the Bay".

It provides a magical mix of experiences that are seldom seen elsewhere in one place in Adelaide.

There is funky and unusual architecture, a plethora of places to indulge yourself in food and alcoholic delights, a buzz of excitement from the backpackers, a street full of shops luring you to lighten the load in your wallet.

And during February and March, Glenelg is determined not to let Anzac Highway isolate it from the Fringe Festival.

While the Garden of Unearthly Delights and Little Miss Mexico woo city-zens to their hubs, the Bay will be hosting free Fringe events daily to tempt your nostrils to embrace the salty scent of the sea.

I have picked two events, but you can see the full list of concerts, art exhibitions and other events on the website here .

Summer Sundays @ the Bay

Each Sunday during the Fringe there will be a free concert on stage in Moseley Square with live music from 1pm till 5pm.

Music styles will vary every week, but include rock, jazz, acoustic pop, soul & funk.

Already a great place to be seen on any weekend, Moseley Square suddenly has become even more attractive.

Fringe @ the Bay Discovery Centre

The Bay Discovery Centre will be hosting two free art exhibitions during the Fringe.

SA ceramic artist Neville Assad-Salha is currently living in Beirut, and will be presenting a collection of works produced by living between two cultures. It is entitled Between Two Spaces and can be seen in the Ground Floor Gallery.from February 15 to April 21 2013.

The Mezzanine Gallery will be hosting Tutti Visual Arts - Small Things from February 1 to April 7 2013.

The art exhibition will be a collection of intimate artworks produced in the Tutti Visual Arts & Design Program by young adults with intellectual disabilities.

Each artist will focus on their own individual interest areas, styles and techniques. The works are spontaneous, ranging from the quirky and exciting to introspective abstractions.
