"Do you like scary movies?"Yep, I'm one of those people. You know the ones… they love all things Halloween, from dressing up like a zombie to baking cute little skeleton cupcakes. Yep, that's me.So needless to say how excited I was when I stumbled across Fright Night at Movieworld on the Gold Coast.
"Be afraid. Be very afraid"

Every freaky Friday and spooky Saturday night in October, Movieworld puts on an eerie extravaganza that will make even the hardiest of men breathe a little quicker!

The main parade is turned into a street of terrors where you are likely to run into any number of scary characters (and no, I'm not talking about Marilyn Monroe without the makeup). Oh and if you think that's probably not a chainsaw you can hear in the murky distance… think again!

The whole of Movieworld is transformed into a mysterious and gothic wonderland with ghostly lighting, spine chilling music and themed bars and spaces. You can't help but find yourself immersed in the macabre atmosphere. Expect cheap scares (zombies chasing you) and loud noises (did I mention the chainsaw?) but all this adds to the fun.

"We all go a little mad sometimes"

One of the main attractions is the mazes. Buildings are gutted and redecorated into living nightmares. This year there are 4 main mazes to get the 'ol heart pumping:

Wolf Creek 2 Maze - that's right this maze has been designed around that Aussie horror - Mick Taylor brought to life in this terrifying maze.

The Ripper Maze - relive the ghastly era of Jack the Ripper, in this Whitechapel inspired maze.

The Evil Within Maze - based on the highly anticipated survival horror video game, this maze is sure to test your nerves.

Cannibal Clowns Maze - sinister, evil, hungry clowns. Enough said.

Whilst the waiting times in line for these mazes can be ridiculous, they are most definitely worth the wait. There's nothing quite like walking through a darkened room and waiting for something to jump out at you. Don't worry, you won't be the only one that screams!

If the line wait doesn't appeal, for $45 you can purchase a Fast Track pass which allows you to skip the queues once for each of the mazes.

There's also a number of your favourite Movieworld rides open from 6 - 9pm, including Green Lantern, Arkham Asylum and Superman Escape.

"We came, we saw, we kicked it's…."

Guests are encouraged to get in the spirit of the night and dress up in costume, just keep the masks at home and the eye makeup light. Double check the website for further suggestions.

There's plenty of ghastly food options for everyone. Think along the lines of graveyard desserts, IV bags with coloured drinks and 'blood' (jam) filled doughnuts!

Tickets vary from $30 - $50 for general admission, depending on which night you go unless you're a VIP pass holder, then entry is free.

As noted on the Fright Night website , this event is not recommend for kids 14 years and under, due to the scary themes and experiences.

See the website for more information.

And now for the movie buffs, can you name the movies that my 'title quotes' are from?
