Event:
Make sure you attend one of these native plant sales
There are thousands of different native species growing in Kings Park. Some of them are exquisite and can't be seen elsewhere.

You will be able to see many of them at the Kings Park Festival 2018 which will be on shortly, and this will be a great event as it always is!

Now, the Friends of Kings Park will be holding several plant sales. These will happen whether there is rain, hail or shine.

Buyers from all around Western Australia always line up for the Friends plant sales. These sales give you the chance to build stunning native gardens out of plants that you often are unable to buy elsewhere. The numbers of plants of some of the rarer species are quite limited, so get there early! Plants will be arranged into specific categories at the sale.

2018 plant sales dates are:

Saturday 15th and Sunday 16th September, from 10.00 am to 4.00 pm

Sunday 4th November, from 8.30 am to 12 noon

Please note: The actual gates will close a quarter of an hour before closing time. These plant sales are held at the Exhibition Ground and if the plants sell out, they could close earlier than the advertised time.

The proceeds from these sales will go towards supporting research and projects in Kings Park and the Botanic Garden.

All the "friends" are volunteers and at each sale, there will be volunteer Master Gardeners, who can give you help and advice. These Master Gardeners are experts in the subject of growing Western Australian native plants.

They also provide a free advisory service on caring for and growing native plants for home gardeners and community groups.

If you need advice on these native gardens, the service is focused on WA native plant species in urban gardens. It provides practical advice on propagation, potting, planting, pests and pruning. The Kings Park Volunteer Master Gardeners enjoy spreading the word about WA's glorious native plants and how to grow them successfully.

Members of the Friends of Kings Park receive a discount on plant sales, and those joining at the plant sale will also receive this discount.

Plant buyers are encouraged to bring their own boxes or bags, however, Eco bags will also be available to buy at the event. It is also recommended that you use credit card/EFTPOS for your purchases.

For further details or enquiries, please contact the Friends office on 9480 3643 or via email at: friendskpadmin@bgpa.wa.gov.au

Where
The plants are sold under the shade of the Tuart and Marri trees which surround the Exhibition Ground in Kings Park.

There has been a pickup area set aside in the car park for those customers buying large quantities of plants. This will enable you to get them to your car easily! If you need it, there will also be volunteers available to help customers to transport their purchases to the pickup area.

About the "Friends"
The Friends of Kings Park supports the work of the Botanic Gardens & Parks Authority by working actively in conservation, bush-land management, as well as horticulture, and education.

They also provide volunteer support and support special projects within Kings Park. They do this by raising funds for specific areas, for example, the Botanic Terraces and the Botanic Pavilion.

Don't miss out on this great plant sale - you could pick up some rare native plants here!
