As a devotee, fan or occasional viewer of the hit American sitcom Friends have you ever dreamed of being able to step into the show's cafe, Central Perk, relax on the soft sofa, catch up with your own friends and re-live life's major moments, just like the stars in the series in the place where anything could happen? Well now you can at the Friends and Flowers in Deagon.

In the 2000s, one American sitcom reigned supreme. It was the simple story of six twenty-something friends who were finding their way through life and love in New York City. Friends Rachel Green (fashion executive) played by Jennifer Anniston , Phoebe Buffet (musician), Monica Geller (chef), Joey Tribiani (actor), Chandler Bing (statistical analyst), and Dr Ross Geller (palaeontologist) were best friends, roommates, and partners and millions worldwide watched their lives grow, change and unfold in sometimes the funniest of ways.

In each episode of the show, the Friends would visit the local cafe, named Central Perk which became a key meeting place where they would share life highs and lows, end relationships, start new ones and make life-changing decisions, together.

A newly renovated cafe in Deagon, Brisbane has re-created their caffeine hangout to bring a little piece of Greenwich Village to Brisbane through the Friends and Flowers Cafe.

The cafe includes many of the classic hallmark Central Perk features which you will see live your Friends dream.

The Sofa
Of course, any Friends devotee knows that Central Perk was famous for its sofa. On the show, it was where some of the most important conversations were had, decisions made and memories created among the seven friends.

It's where Chandler breaks up with Janice, where Gunther asks one patron to put "the mouse back in the house" and where Phoebe finds a police badge and uses its power to stop her own social "crimes" in New York.

Just like in the show, the sofa takes centre stage in this cafe as well in the middle of the seating area beside the counter. A comfy three-seater and a single sofa chair are waiting for visitors to start their own conversations and give advice on life's big questions over a cup of coffee.

Phoebe's Guitar
Central Perk was the stage where Phoebe Buffet performed her oh-so-original and quirky songs to visitors on her acoustic guitar. Who could forget the off-beat, off-key melodies of "Smelly Cat", "Crazy Underwear" or "The Cow In the Meadow."

Well, an acoustic guitar just like Phoebe's sits in the corner of the cafe. There are no regular, live musical moments, but it serves as a reminder of the show.

Monica's Door
In the show, Monica's apartment door always seemed to be unlocked and was a central gathering place for all of their friends. Behind the door of Monica and Chandler/Rachel/Phoebe's apartment was a small, empty yellow picture frame. And guess what, it's in the cafe near the counter.

The Stool Seating and The Bar
I was expecting to see Central Perk's original blond bombshell barista, Gunther behind the counter and bar polishing glasses. While Gunther isn't there, the bar is and acts as the cafe counter. The bar stool seating is also available adjacent to the sofa of course.

The Menu
Now that you have taken in the landscape of the cafe to pay homage to Central Perk, it's time to choose a seat and grab something to eat. The cafe serves Merlo Coffee and we enjoyed a chai latte and cappuccino. On the side of the saucer was a sweet travelling souvenir spoon of adventures had and shared memories of Australian town. It was a cute variation from the standard silver spoon and another talking point amongst guests.

The cold cabinet has a range of unexpected sweet treats to serve as a side to your cup of Joe. A selection of sweet treats inspired by Persian, Greek, and Turkish cuisine. Pistachio Baklava, Persian Cake and a touch of French style with the Crème Brûlée Choux Bun were welcome and tempting sights.

Breakfast and lunch are also on the menu with an all-day menu featuring over 40 hot and cold items, including vegan, vegetarian, and gluten-free options, all made with fresh ingredients. The cafe has also recently opened on Friday and Saturday nights for dinner from 5pm to 8pm offering even more Mediterranean specialties.

One addition to Central Perk is the bouquets of fresh flowers in this Brisbane cafe. A selection of bright blooms are available to take away from your visit.

Curbside Seating
Unlike Central Perk, Friends and Flowers offers curbside seating. There are three tables and a bench for an outdoor coffee at the entrance which are handy for a quick stroller stop.

Overall, the cafe has good attention to detail to bring the famous decor of the show to life in Brisbane. The staff are friendly, and the cafe has a combination of cafe favourites and some unique European specialties. It has a local, community atmosphere where you get the feeling that the regulars visit frequently and new faces are made to feel welcome.

While it is a single-space cafe, it makes the most of its corner location with the lure of a Friends television experience and the opportunity to make new real-life friends.

What Else?
The Friends and Flowers Cafe is located at 60 Adams Street Deagon. The cafe is open 6 AM to 2 PM Tuesday to Friday, 7 AM to 2 PM on weekends, plus dinner from 5 PM to 8 PM on Fridays and Saturdays. Deagon is situated in northern Brisbane and is 17 kilometres from Brisbane
