Royal Botanic Gardens, Melbourne
If anyone knows their way around the garden path, including how to create a picture perfect combination of trees, shrubs and flowers, then it is surely the highly esteemed Friends of the Royal Botanic Gardens in Melbourne. I refer to these horticultural maestros as 'highly esteemed' because I was most certainly not blessed with a similarly green thumb. In fact, as I struggle to keep even the most basic and hardy plants alive, I live in envy of anyone who can make their garden grow.
So for those passionate about gardening or, like me, simply in need all the help they can get, the Friends Fantastic Autumn Plant Sale is the perfect place to learn more about companion planting and how to pretty up your garden beds. Come along for a range of plants that will suit any landscape and style, obtain some noteworthy advice from the hands-on experts and buy a range of plants that will ensure you have all your flowers in a row before the first leaves of Spring unfurl.
There will be hundreds of plants for sale including shrubs, trees, natives, herbs and succulents, along with a bumper raffle offering some great prizes for you to win along the way.
Not that you need another excuse to visit the serene Botanic Gardens, do put these two sales dates on your calendar now and be sure to make a trip when you can take home a little something or two to remember.
The Friends Fantastic Autumn Plant Sale is being held on the weekend of Saturday 29th April 2017 from 10am to 4pm and Sunday 30th April 2017 from 10am to 3pm inside Gate E of the Royal Botanic Gardens, Birdwood Avenue, Melbourne. Entry to the plant sale is free.
For an added bonus, become a Member of the Friends of the RBG Melbourne for a 10% off discount on all plants. You can join and take advantage of the savings on the day, so throw your glove in the potting mix and take advantage of this opportunity to join and meet some new friends.
