I like to participate in life rather than be a spectator. Music, dancing, theatre, travelling, food, cycling and walking are some of my passions. Writing is an enjoyable pastime that allows me to share my experiences.

The Friendly Inn is a historic hotel and well-known landmark of Kangaroo Valley NSW. Having been built in the 1890s, the hotel is one of the oldest in the area and was formerly called The Commercial.

The indoor area is comprised of a number of intimate rooms that are decorated with quirky touches and historic pictures. There are also carved timber bar stools and tables.

The menu contains the usual pub classics such as burgers, schnitzel, fish & chips and steak. Daily specials are available and due to COVID-19 restrictions, the menu is only available on blackboards above the counter. All of the meals were tasty and generous serving sizes. The bistro and bar is very popular especially on weekends, so it pays to book especially whilst pandemic restrictions are in place.

Outside there is a very large beer garden that has stunning views of the escarpment as well as a children's' playground, stage, firepit and large screen for watching footy finals. They have been known to get large crowds to the live music on summer weekends. They have operated a bottle shop for takeaways and there is a 10% surcharge on Sundays and public holidays.

Sounds like a good place for a good feed Janelle. I've only passed through Kangaroo Valley a couple of times, definitely worth a stop next time.
