Melbourne filmmakers Callum Padgham and Tavis Urquhart recently teamed up to make a comedy television pilot, and now they're ready to show the final product.
Independently produced and shot locally, "Frienddad" tells the story of Travis Little (Urquhart) who wakes up after a big night to discover that his best friend Cameron Biggs (Padgham) has become his father. The story takes place both in Travis' psychiatrist's office and in the sitcom inside his mind, creating a wacky dual-narrative.
The trailer, available online, highlights the sitcom parody style.
For the more technically-inclined film and television buffs, Frienddad was shot both on set with a DSLR 3 camera multi-cam setup, and on location with RED.
The Official Australian Premiere is being held at Revolver Upstairs on Wednesday 1st February with live entertainment to round out the evening. Comic
Tommy Dassalo will be cracking some jokes from 9:00 prior to the screening at 9:30, and there's still another "special guest" comic yet to be announced.
