Bridgetown locals jokingly refer to the South West town as "Fridgetown", and now the name has been officially adopted to celebrate its annual winter festival.

From now through to the end of August, Fridgetown Fest is packed with events to celebrate Bridgetown's status as the winter capital of Western Australia.

Highlight events are the LiveLighter Puzzletown 2019 which runs through the school holidays in July and the ever popular Banquet on a Bridge in August.

Organised under the auspices of the Bridgetown Greenbushes Business and Tourism Association, Fridgetown Fest will also feature dozens of individual events ranging across art, food, music, theatre, craft and writing workshops, walk trails, gardening, powerboat racing, science, games and more.

Banquet On A Bridge, which celebrates the Blackwood River Valley food bowl with chefs, cooks, winemakers, brewers and producers, brings the best in the region to the event at a feast held on a picturesque bridge a short drive out of town.

The fully licensed event sells out quickly, and this year will be held on Sunday, August 11, from 11am.

Guests travel by coach to the event from Bridgetown and the full itinerary is supplied on confirmation of booking.

Tickets for the adults-only lunch are $155 and available from
