While most of us are reeling from the post-holiday food coma and general celebrations of the merry season, our brave and fearless volunteer firefighters from SA Country Fire Service will have continued with their perseverance and determination to contain the current bushfires that have been sweeping through the Hills and surrounding areas since last week and are still going (some uncontrolled) in certain parts of the state. It will have been a major sacrifice for a lot of these individuals, who had to give up their Christmas and be on the frontline in saving these affected regions from perishing and undoubtedly, this will be a rather somber moment that won't be forgotten for a long time.

If you have been following the news and particularly a range of South Australian accounts via social media, you will have noticed that there are a range of local venues and organizations that are hosting fundraisers in support of the local community and the volunteer firefighters. One such incredible business that joined the Adelaide Hills Wine Region in December 2018 and has created a relaxing haven of a winery for its patrons is Cobbs Hill Estate , which is nestled in the heart of Oakbank.

On Friday - December 27, 2019 - Cobbs Hill Estate's cellar door will be open from 12pm - 6pm as usual, but thereafter, the night will be dedicated to raising funds for supporting the local community and individuals whose lives have directly been affected by the fires. Throughout the day, patrons will also be offered the opportunity to make a gold coin donation towards SA Country Fire Service.

Having visited Cobb's Hill Estate for the first time ever earlier this year, I have been yearning to go back since - their wines are easy on the palate, their surrounding landscape makes you feel like you're on a mini-getaway with its lush greenery and its picturesque views, and they also have a resident dog who goes by the name "Chap" and is an absolute delight, who walks around the estate for the routinely checks on the perimeter, but more importantly, attracts undivided attention for his friendly and cheeky demeanor that instantly puts a smile on everyone's faces. With everything that has happened over the last week, now couldn't be a better time to not only go and experience the beauty and magic of this cellar door but also simultaneously do what little we can to help the local community that has been hit the hardest from the recent bushfires.

Cobb's Hill Estate will open their cellar door on December 27, 2019 from 12pm and the Friday Night Wine and Chill will kick off from 6pm - 9pm, with live music and entertainment, gourmet platters, and lots of wine pourings on offer - all proceeds will be donated towards supporting our local community in the Adelaide Hills and the SA Country Fire Service.
