Friday Night Laneways is a new series, presented by Brisbane City Council, bringing Brisbane's vibrant laneways and small spaces to life. On the first Friday evening of every month, these nooks and crannies will set the scene for exciting events, exhibitions, and live performances.
Brisbane City Council's Vibrant Laneways Program was created to rejuvenate forgotten spaces and reintroduce them to the community as places where people could relax, dine, shop, admire art, and to provide opportunities for small businesses. Many of Brisbane's hidden laneways and small spaces have already been transformed: Burnett Lane, Market Street, Little Roma Street, and Jacob's Ladder. Current projects include upgrades to Hutton Lane, Eagle Lane, and Edison Lane.
The first Friday Night Laneways will launch on April 5 in Hutton Lane from 5pm to 9pm. Hutton Lane, featuring regularly updated artwork, will form part of an outdoor gallery that will span Hutton, Eagle, Edison, and Burnett Lanes when completed.
The next laneway party will take place on May 3 in Burnett Lane. City Chic, the Ideas Fiesta finale, is a fun night of fashion parades and live music.
