While the regular Friday Fireworks at Docklands in July and August are free events sometimes it can get a bit crowded and hard to find a great vantage point.

So why not take to the water? There is something really special about viewing fireworks above you as well as mirrored in the water below especially when your are sipping on a glass of bubbly.

If you don't have a boat of your own then you might want to consider one of the following organised cruises.


Pleasure Boat Cruises

Pleasure Boat Cruises is one way to see this spectacle from the water.

They offer complimentary nibbles and a boat trip through Docklands' waters. Drinks available from the fully licensed bar.

Two boats on offer the M.V. Mandalay or M.Y. Challenger.

$35 includes a 1 hour cruise with nibbles.

Children under 14 are half price, under 5 sail for free (need to be accompanied by a parent or guardian). Leaves at 6:15 and returns to the dock at Central Pier at 7:30pm.

Ab-Fab Friday Cruises

Or if you go down to the Dockland's Central Pier you can board the Lady Cutler for their Ab-Fab Friday Cruises that take in the fireworks.

The cruise takes you under the Bolte Bridge and into the Port of Melbourne where you can view the sunset then to Victoria Harbour for a close-up view of the fabulous Docklands' fireworks.

Their cruise offers music with a DJ, happy hour cocktails and drinks, with the first beer, wine and champs for free.

Nibbles are provided throughout the trip and if you feel like something a little heavier then you can buy light meals as well.

One thing I would take into consideration is that the smaller the boat the more intimate the experience.
