I like to participate in life rather than be a spectator. Music, dancing, theatre, travelling, food, cycling and walking are some of my passions. Writing is an enjoyable pastime that allows me to share my experiences.
Located in the Coffs Harbour hinterland Friday Creek Retreat is perfect for a peaceful getaway. Nine individually themed self-contained cottages are nestled amongst the Australian bush on the 100 acre property. The friendly owners, Judy and Stuart Bradley love sharing their property with guests, are very helpful and only a call away if needed.
Each cottage is furnished beautifully, with a log fire for wintry nights, air conditioning, TV, DVD player, sound system, large bathroom, comfortable queen bed and a veranda. We stayed in the 'Asian' cottage that had Japanese prints on the wall, oriental decorative furniture and ceramics as well as a selection of relevant books and DVDs.
A nice touch is a container of marshmallows to roast near the fire and a selection of tea lights and candles for romantic ambience. The rooms are scrupulously clean and well equipped with toiletries, bathrobes, cooking facilities, hair dryer, iron, microwave, refrigerator and a swinging hammock chair.
Aside from the fresh air, views and serenity the resort has a large pool area, a wood fired pizza oven, BBQ, tennis court, board games, croquet, pétanque, bicycles, guest laundry and is pet friendly. Friday Creek can be booked out for weddings with the ceremony held on picturesque lake 'island'.
Coffs Harbour is about 20 minutes away by car but bring plenty of food and drink with you as you won't want to leave. If you are craving a fresh pizza, with a few hours notice for $10 Judy will provide pizza dough and sauce and Stuart will fire up the oven and cooking instructions. Toppings to taste, a few minutes cooking and a glass of red wine or two make for a delicious social meal.
