Fresh Provisions gourmet food shop is such an institution that more than 3500 people protested a decision to reduce its trading hours.

The Facebook protest was in vain and 'Freshies' now closes at 10pm, denying insomniacs and party animals their traditional 3am munchies.

Freshies is a world of yum – gourmet bread, heat-and-eat meals, dips, antipasto, unusual ingredients like fresh tumeric, organic fruit and veg, sauces, and spices.



Quality is the watch-word here. The meat is mainly from Mondo , the seafood from Kailis Bros , and the bread from Lawley's Bakery Cafe – and none of them are cheap.

That said, their fresh fruit and vegetables are surprisingly budget-friendly, as is their pizza by the slice at $3.99 for what amounts to a hearty meal.





Fresh Provisions is the sort of place which can provide dinner party inspiration when you feel like cooking something new and different.

You can find outlets in Mount Lawley, Claremont, and Bicton.

The Mount Lawley store is close to a good quality Liquor Barons outlet if you wish to add a good drop or three to your gourmet shopping list.
