Fresh Code is a chain store with very special approach when it comes to juice. I was lucky to come upon one while strolling about near Central Market in Kuala Lumpur.
Colourful decor
The decor alone provides a cooling oasis from the city heat, but it's their juices that really make a visit worthwhile.
I must say, though that I love the comfortable lounge seating area with colourful cushions that enabled me to lean back, cool off and watch the world go by.

But, more about the juice - it's important to note that Fresh Code juices are not freshly squeezed.
Fresh Code believes in maintaining the nutritional integrity of their products by cold pressing all juices and freezing them to 18°C, locking in the goodness.

Instead, they undergo high-pressure processing that subjects the product to extreme pressures in order to kill any bacteria.

While purists may object to a non-raw juice bar, there is definitely a place for this sort of product, especially in terms of food safety.
Fresh Code blends the best of both worlds, producing a product with a long shelf life, while at the same time not compromising on nutritional quality.

In addition, they don't add any colourings, preservatives, additives or sugar to their juices.
A wide menu
Their extensive menu includes more than juices. They offer sorbets, and even hot teas.
What is also fantastic is that while they do offer the more conventional juice mixes you would expect they also make the most out of those fruits that are the stars of Southeast Asia like lychees, soursop, and mangosteen.
This gives the range a unique flavour that speaks of the tropics, hints at more conventional juicing fruits - like orange - but at the end of the day doesn't let you forget that you are in Malaysia.
Refreshing juices
While watching the wall-mounted screen that showed more about the making of the juice I was drinking, staff brought over a free sample of one of their wonderful fruit sorbets.

It was a real delight - delicately flavoured with lychees and sweetly fragrant.
Fresh Code was a pleasant and healthy surprise perfectly suited to the local climate.
