Fun and food at Fresco on Steve Irwin Way
Many of us, I am sure, will remember the route up to the Sunshine Coast in years gone by, which weaved its way along what is now known as the Steve Irwin Highway. It was known then as the Bruce Highway.
Along the route were a collection of growers with great places to buy their freshly picked fruit and vegetables. In those days, there were many pineapple plantations along the route but now, not so many. However, it is still a very productive growing area – with places to buy your freshly picked produce.
I called in on my way back from the Glass House Mountains recently and was very impressed with what I found, though I know it is still a work in progress. New children's play areas are currently being constructed.
There's a new eating area within a new garden area, with ramps for those folk unable to manage the few stairs. You can enjoy your coffee and treats while watching the children in the play area – though it might be a week or so before that is completed.
Have you heard of Soapberries? The dried shell of the soapberry, which is from the Himalayan region, is nature's soap. Just add water. It's 100% natural and certified organic laundry detergent.
There's great olive oils, local honey, Maleny Dairy products, local nuts, chocolates, ice cream, and so much more. Are you looking for a gift to make someone laugh? You'll find a few things that will do that.
