French Twist Patisserie

French Twist has long been a favourite of mine. Here you'll find an innovative menu complimented perfectly by a charming, French provincial interior. Even though the location is just off a bustling walkway at The Barracks, once you step inside it is easy to forget the world and relax.
Orange and lavender macaroons
They serve breakfast and lunch (baguettes and such), great coffee and other hot drinks, as well as a variety of unique sweets. For those who have trouble deciding on just one dessert (which if you're like me, or you have eyes, you probably will), there is the option of petit fours.

Last time I was there I ordered some macaroons; one lavender and, even though I'm not a big citrus person, one orange. The lavender one was absolutely delicious and left me wishing I'd sacrificed variety in honour of the safest bet. All of the food here is amazing, but I would most highly recommend it as a morning or afternoon tea spot; I'm just not sure it's possible to go past the appetizing display of treats.

There are a number of tables inside, or you can sit outside and people watch. Unfortunately the cafe is very popular yet not especially large, so if you happen to stop by on a rainy day, be prepared to get creative with chair arrangements.

The Barracks provides underground parking, the first two hours of which are free.
