French Kiss Creperie Stall - in World Square Shopping Centre

This delightful little stall is really just a couple of benches put together in the middle of the shopping centre; they are located near Coles in the lower ground floor level of the World Square Shopping Complex. They make the most magnificent crepes here.

They specialise in just making crepes and it shows. They do sweet and savoury crepes. When you order a crepe the staff set upon the task of making it for you. The batter is skilfully worked until it is delightfully thin. Once it is cooked they add that special something to it just for you.



If you love your traditional French flavours you can't go past the old-style Butter and Sugar (Crepe au Sucre) for $5 and the Lemon and Sugar (Crepe au Citron) for $6. There is something charming and unassuming about these flavours that brings back memories of simpler times. They work so well as simple combinations that you will wonder why we ever try to outdo the classics. You can really taste the warm butter and sugar mixing together with lovely texture of the freshly made soft warm crepe.

However if you just want to indulge and spoil yourself you must try their signature dish: French Kiss Crepe, which is fresh Strawberry's, Whipped Cream and Nutella for $10. The combination is marvellous and sweet, with a lovely contrast between the sweet and rich elements of heavy whipped cream and rich Nutella combined with light, refreshing fresh strawberries, and don't forget that lovely crepe it comes wrapped in! It is the best of desserts.

They do a range of savoury crepes too, but the sweet are more popular, perhaps it is because your eyes cannot help but be lured in by the large jars of Nutella that temptingly feature on the display of the stall? The best savoury crepe selection is the comically named Crepe Popeye: Spinach, Cheese and Mushrooms for $8. It is the perfect crepe to have as lunch.

The Centre gets very busy around lunchtime (from around 11:30am until well into the afternoon). Unfortunately the stall doesn't have setting available and only does takeaway. If you are lucky you could find some of the mall setting available - the white seats and tables (that belong to the shopping centre). So if you work in the area it is a good idea to get takeaway and eat at your workplace. If this is not the case then you could head up the escalators opposite Coles and eat upstairs in the World Square open mall, there is usually some seating available.

These crepes are better than those you will find in fine restaurants; they are authentic tasting, made fresh for you and they are reasonably priced. When passing by French Kiss Creperie you may be tempted by the colossal jars of Nutella that surround the stall and wonder how the staff keep themselves from diving in for a taste! The smell that emanates from the stall as the batter is cooking is heavenly.
