The French Film Festival returns to Darwin with an exceptional array of contemporary French cinema guaranteed to delight and stimulate.

It's Only The End of The World will open the French Film Festival 2017. This film stars Marion Cotillard. It's Only The End of The World will screen on Saturday 25th November 2017 at 5pm and is adapted from Jean-Luc Lagarce's acclaimed stage play.

The second film that will be screened on Saturday 25th November 2017 and starting at 7.30pm is The Odyssey (L'Odyssée). Directed by Jerome Salle and starring Audrey Tautou, this film is about eccentric and ambitious naval officer Cousteau (Lambert Wilson) with his dreams of adventure.

On the second day of French Film Festival, Toki Pilioko will play as an ambitious young Wallisian man who leaves everything behind – including a sadistic father – to try his hand at professional rugby in Mercenary (Mercenaire). Mercenary will be screened on Sunday 26th November 2017, starting at 2.30pm.

Danny Boon in Penny Pincher!


Penny Pincher! (Radin!) stars Danny Boon, the French comedy king, as violinist François Gautier, whose driving motivation in life is to never spend a cent. But when he falls in love with the orchestra's new cellist, Valérie (Laurence Arné) and the sixteen-year-old daughter he never knew about arrives on his doorstep, his life then forced in an entirely new and very entertaining direction. In order to conceal his shameful flaw, François builds a sticky web of lies which gets him into a sequence of awkward and hysterical situations that will have the audience in stitches. Directed by Fred Cavaye, this film surely will make you cry the funny tears. Penny Pincher! will be screen on Sunday 26th November 2017, starting at 4.45pm.

Natalie Portman and Lily-Rose Depp star as two American sisters travelling through Europe in Planetarium, directed by critics' darling Rebecca Zlotowski. This last film that will be screen on Sunday 26th November 2017 and starting at 4.45pm.

All movies will be screened at Playhouse Theatre the Darwin Entertainment Centre and will be in French with English subtitles.

You can find tickets on this website. A full price ticket will be $18.00 and a concession ticket will be $15.00. For Darwin Entertainment Center members, Alliance Francaise members and Deckchair Cinema members, tickets will be $12.00. You can buy multipack ticket for 3 or more films for only $10.00 per film.

La French food chart will be at the balcony of Darwin Entertainment Centre to sell their sweet and savoury crepes. On Saturday they will be there from 6.30pm until 7.45pm, while on Sunday, they will be there from 6pm until 7.15pm.
