The wait is over! Last month's postponed French Art Friday is back on track. The third of Florence Thiriot's five planned French Art Fridays which is all about French art and its practitioners during the French Renaissance, is set to now take place at Alliance Française de Brisbane, 262 Montague Road, West End on Friday, 27 October 2017 starting at 6.30pm.

The French Renaissance was the cultural and artistic movement in French society running from late in the 15th century to early in the 17th century. The period represents a break from the Middle Ages. During this French Art Friday, Florence will explain the cultural and artistic advances the French Renaissance made by discussing and showing the period's most famous architectural and pictorial achievements.
She will describe how, with its development arrested by its 100 Year War with England, France's renaissance was a late starter. From a position where the country's cultural and artistic movements were not as advanced as those of Italian and Flemish artists the French Renaissance gathered steam using input from those external groups for its initial artistic movements.
The current series of French Art Fridays covers all significant aspects of French art and its development inside the 'Old Regime' of France. This being the third of five fabulous talks you should mark your diary for the remainingFrench Art Fridays in this series and watch out for the fifth. The topics and their dates are:
France Great Century, Friday 1st December at 6.30pm; and
French Revolution and the Age of Romantics, in early 2018 with the date to be announced soon.
Florence Thiriot, is a French teacher at Alliance Français de Brisbane and, as you will see, is completely passionate about art.
Born into a family of art specialists, Florence been moved by her love of art across several continents. She grew up in the shadow of the Ecole des Beaux Arts and has spent her life between Europe, West Africa and finally Australia. Her talks always reveal something new and interesting about French art and her enthusiasm for the topic helps to make your evening tremendously enjoyable.
