Event:
The beauty of France has much to do with its architecture

If you have ever been to France you will have been entranced by the beautiful architecture on display wherever you go; it's not always just in Paris. Alliance Française de Brisbane is proud to be presenting a series of lectures — well, interesting and informative chats, really — to discuss, in English, innovative and contemporary French architecture. The first of these events will be on Friday, 12 May, 2017 from 6.30pm in the Alliance Francaise premises at 262 Montague Road, West End.

Admission to the event is $25 for Alliance Francaise members and $30 for non-members. Make sure you don't miss out and purchase your tickets on-line:

The first talk in this fascinating series will focus on French Vertical Architecture. 'Higher the Better' could be said to have always been the theme of architectural advancement. Tall buildings and other structures provide symbols of national pride and can demonstrate power and technological advances to the world.

Associate Professor Karine Dupré will be your expert guide as she moves you along this tour de France of vertical architecture. She will provide an overview of French contemporary architectural practices that not only demonstrate great imagination and audacity, but have also been the basis for new and visionary trends for better community life and social cohesion.

Associate Professor Dupré is a French architect and urban planner who is head of the Griffith University Architecture programme. Prior to joining Griffith, Karine taught and conducted research at the Strasbourg National Institute of Applied Sciences in France and the Urban Planning and Design Institute at the Tampere University of Technology in Finland. Having also taught urban planning theories and architecture design Karine can speak with authority on cities and tourism, urban development and sustainability, building heritage and identity.

Following on from this first talk Alliance Française will be conducting two other French Architecture Fridays on 4 August, 2017 to discuss Innovative Public Space Design and the 6 October, 2017 where you will learn all that's important about Contemporary Museum Architecture.
